A series of small defensive forts erected in the 19th century, these formidable structures were designed during the Napoleonic Wars and remained in use long after. Each of the towers is capable of hosting up to 25 soldiers. Martello towers were erected throughout the Fingal region, and many of these buildings remain standing today, providing tourists with a wide variety of potentially entertaining discoveries.
